Youth Education
Exciting educational opportunities geared toward youth include:
Food Drive (food items, paper toiletries, baby or hygiene items) - Year Round
- The school sets a goal and a timeframe for the food drive. Each class competes to bring the largest number of items
- A list of recommended and most needed items at the time is provided by Families Forward
- Families Forward delivers and picks up food bins (for larger drives)
Tours at Families Forward - Year Round
- Plan a field trip/tour at Families Forward and learn about who we are and who we serve. Classes can bring their food donations at this time.
- Classes are given a presentation about Families Forward programs and services
Volunteering - Year Round
- There are volunteer opportunities in the Food Pantry or other Families Forward events. Specific time frames, locations and responsibilities can be provided upon request. Some age restrictions apply.
Adopt-A-Family - October-December
- Schools can choose to adopt a family or a number of families for the Holidays
- Families would be assigned to the class based upon its preferences as far as number and age of children in the family
- Gift card donations are also a great way to participate
Back-To-School - July-August
- As with the Food Drive, classes may choose to provide children in need with new backpacks and school supplies
Thanksgiving Program - October-November
- Thanksgiving Food Drive culminating on Saturday the weekend prior to Thanksgiving serves over 400 families with food for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner plus extra food items for the month
