Exciting educational opportunities geared toward youth include:
Food Drive - Year Round
- The school sets a goal and a time frame for the food drive. Each class competes to bring the largest number of items.
- A list of recommended and most needed items at the time is provided by Families Forward.
- Families Forward delivers and picks up food bins (for larger drives).
Tours at Families Forward - Year Round
- Plan a field trip/tour at Families Forward and learn about who we are and who we serve. Classes can bring their food donations at this time.
- Classes are given a presentation about Families Forward programs and services.
Volunteering - Year Round
- There are volunteer opportunities in the food pantry or other Families Forward events. Specific time frames, locations, and responsibilities can be provided upon request. Some age restrictions apply.
Adopt-A-Family - October-December
- Schools can choose to adopt a family or a number of families for the holidays.
- Families will be assigned to the class based upon its preferences as far as number and age of children in the family.
- Gift card donations are also a great way to participate.
Back-To-School - July-August
- As with food drives, classes may choose to provide children in need with new backpacks and school supplies.
Thanksgiving Program - October-November
- Thanksgiving food drive culminating on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving serving over 700 families with food for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
