Families Forward

Thanksgiving

Each year Families Forward holds a Thanksgiving-themed grocery distribution for local families in need. On Saturday November 17, 2007, local families came to us to receive all of the traditional Thanksgiving fixings to make a warm, delicious holiday meal. Parents brought their children who participated in fun-filled activities such as face painting and arts & crafts. Staff, joined by board members and over 170 spirited volunteers, all got involved to help make this day special. With everyone’s help we were able to provide 424 families with a special holiday meal.

What You Can Do to Help

  • Organize a food drive with your school, office or organization to help provide our families with the makings of a Thanksgiving dinner. Please contact Debbie Regele, our Director of Volunteers for more information.
  • Donate Thanksgiving-themed food items to be given to families on our distribution day. For our Thanksgiving Shopping List please click here.
  • Donate grocery store gift cards that families can use to buy a turkey and fresh produce for their dinner.
  • Volunteer your time to be a hands-on part of the festivities. We need enthusiastic and organized individuals to sort items into family-sized quantities in the days leading up to distribution or help out on distribution day. If you are interested in volunteering, please click here to fill out an online volunteer application form.
  • Donate money to be used to fund the Thanksgiving Program. This money will be used to purchase produce and grocery store gift cards. Click here to donate now.
