Individual Volunteer Opportunities


Food Pantry - Weekly Food Preparations

Monday mornings 9am to 11am in the Families Forward warehouse, volunteers prepare food bags for weekly food distribution. Volunteers have a great time stocking shelves, taking inventory, sorting food and helping make the pantry a resource for those in need. It is important work done in a caring, casual and fun environment. There is no minimum time commitment. Please contact our Volunteer Director if you are interested.

Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9am to 11am in the Families Forward warehouse, two to six volunteers are needed to help with various tasks such as preparing the bread donations and baskets for pickup. There is no minimum time commitment. Please contact our Volunteer Director if you are interested.

Front Desk Volunteer: help change lives!

A critical position, our community support volunteers staff the phones and the front desk and serve as the first point of contact for families and individuals calling for help. This position requires 10 hours of training by our staff and a minimum six month commitment. Volunteers work two to three hour shifts once a week. Good communication skills, a strong desire to help others and excellent judgment are required.

Bilingual Office Volunteers are especially needed to help translate for clients (Most needed languages: Spanish and Farsi). We are currently in need of volunteers for this opportunity.

Childcare Workers

Volunteers work directly with children in the Transitional Housing Program during the weekly Children's Group. Sessions are from 6:30-7:45 every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Tuesday of the month. A minimum 12 week commitment is required of the volunteers as our children develop attachments to the childcare workers. An interview with program staff is required before entering this volunteer opportunity.

Furniture Donations / Warehouse Workers

Volunteers are needed at various times to help staff pick up furniture donations, deliver home items to our transitional homes and organize warehouse items. This involves physical work, flexible hours and some weekends. No minimum time commitment.

Home Furnishing / Repair

Are you handy around the home? We are always looking for people to help us with minor tasks as we inspect each home prior to a new family moving in. Tasks include helping us get a home ready and general "handyman" repairs. No minimum time commitment.
