Helping Families Help Themselves

Families Forward, founded in 1984, is a non-profit organization committed to helping local Orange County families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our programs help families gain the skills and tools they need to stabilize, and regain or maintain their self-sufficiency and provide stability for their children.

A single mother of four children came to Families Forward in dire need of help. While the mother was completing her program registration form, a Families Forward employee explained all of the services available to her and her children, including the Food Pantry. Instantly, the woman’s 5 year old son tugged on the staff member’s sweater and asked if Families Forward would really be able to help them. After easing the boy’s concerns he responded by saying, “I’m a big boy and I understand that sometimes there isn’t going to be dinner but my little brother who’s only 3 doesn’t understand that.”
